About
We read the books so the entry is right.
Lore Fortress is a deep-lore reference site, currently focused on Bionicle. Star Wars and StarCraft are next. Every entry on this site is grounded in primary sources, not Fandom summaries, and reviewed by a human editor before it goes live.
Who we are
Joe Garratt runs the Lore Fortress YouTube channel and edits this site. The channel covers Bionicle and adjacent worlds in long-form, source-citing video essays. The site exists because the YouTube videos kept linking out to wikis whose entries were wrong, contradictory, or written by people who hadn’t cracked open the actual book they were summarising.
Joe writes the long-form pillar pieces under his own byline. Reference stubs are compiled by the Lore Fortress editorial team, grounded in primary sources (the serials, novels, comics, and verified video transcripts), and reviewed by Joe before being published.
What we cite
For Bionicle specifically, our primary sources are Greg Farshtey’s online serials, the Scholastic and HarperCollins novels, the DC and Papercutz comic runs, the four films, the BIONICLE video games, and verified Greg interviews. Where we use the BS01 wiki, we cite it as a secondary source and cross-check with primary material. We never present a Fandom claim as canon without verification.
Every direct quote on this site has been verified against its source text. The pipeline that publishes our reference stubs literally refuses to release an article containing an unverified quotation. If we say someone said something, they said it.
How we work
Reference entries are drafted, automatically validated against our style and accuracy rules, and then reviewed by Joe before going live. Entries that touch contested or evolving canon (Greg has been writing this story for twenty-five years and his answers have changed) are flagged with a Canon Notes block so you know where the disagreements live.
Pillar articles — the long-form deep dives — are written by Joe, in his voice, with citations on every claim. They take longer. We’d rather publish slowly and be right than publish fast and be Fandom.
