Privacy policy

Short version

We don’t want your data. We collect the minimum needed to run the site, we don’t sell it, and you can ask us to delete it any time at editor@lorefortress.com.

What we collect

• Newsletter sign-ups. If you submit your email address through the newsletter form, we store it for the purpose of sending you the newsletter. You can unsubscribe via the link at the bottom of any newsletter email or by emailing editor@lorefortress.com.
• Server logs. Standard web-server logs (IP address, user agent, requested URL, timestamp) are retained for up to thirty days for operational and security purposes.
• Privacy-respecting analytics. If we deploy analytics, we use a cookie-less, IP-anonymising provider. We do not run Google Analytics or similar invasive analytics on this site.

Cookies

We do not set any tracking or advertising cookies. The site uses a single first-party cookie to remember your light/dark theme preference, set only when you change the default. No third-party cookies are set by anything we control.

If we ever embed third-party content (a YouTube video, for example), that embed may set cookies under YouTube’s own policies once you load the embed. We try to use privacy-enhanced embeds where available.

Affiliate links and ads

Some outbound links to retailers may be affiliate links. The retailer (e.g. Amazon, eBay) may set their own cookies once you click through. We do not track which links you click on within our own systems. Affiliate links are marked rel="sponsored" and disclosed in an affiliate notice on affected pages.

If display advertising appears on the site in the future, the ad network involved will have its own privacy policy that governs what data they collect. We will update this policy at that time and link to the network’s privacy notice.

Your rights

If you are in the UK or EU, GDPR gives you a right to access, correct or delete personal data we hold about you. Email editor@lorefortress.com and we will respond within thirty days. If you are unhappy with our response, you can complain to the Information Commissioner’s Office (ico.org.uk).
