The Basestar Type-C was a type of warship used by the Cylons in the closing years of the Cylon War. It closely resembled the modern basestar in appearance, though it bore a more industrial look in place of the organic form of the later type. It was the first known basestar to be controlled by a Hybrid rather than by conventional means.
Design#
In appearance the Type-C closely resembled the modern basestar, but with a more industrial look in contrast to the organic form of that later type. Its most notable distinction was its command: the Type-C was the first known basestar to be controlled by a Hybrid rather than by conventional means, foreshadowing the living command that would define the Type-D. It is unknown whether the type carried no weapons of its own, or whether its sole recorded example had simply expended its ammunition, since both Colonial Raptors that approached it went unfired upon.
History#
Little is recorded of the Type-C's history apart from its part in Operation Raptor Talon. There a Colonial task force of three Jupiter-class battlestars engaged a Cylon fleet defending an ice planet on which a Type-C had landed. Following the Armistice that ended the war, the basestar was moved to an unknown location. The single named example of the type, the Guardian Basestar, was destroyed in the Battle of the Guardian Basestar.
