Salpica was among the civilian craft that escaped the destruction of the Twelve Colonies and joined the refugee fleet led by Galactica, accounting for some 475 of the survivors. The ship and its people took part in the presidential election conducted across the Fleet.
In time the ship also became the residence of Samuel Anders, who lived aboard Salpica before relocating to Galactica.
