The KanohiKanohiMasks that grant powers and sustain life, they're the most vital artifact in the Matoran Universe. Pack was a 2001 collectible product line that shipped during the original Bionicle launch year. Each sealed pack contained two masks: a Great KanohiGreat KanohiThe most common mask type worn by Toa and other powerful beings, forged from the highest-grade Kanoka discs. in one of the six Toa Mata colors, and a Noble KanohiNoble KanohiMasks worn by Turaga and some Matoran, Noble Kanohi traded raw power for broader accessibility across Mata Nui's inhabitants. in one of the six TuragaTuragaFormer Toa who fulfilled their destiny and transformed into leaders. Turaga wield Noble Kanohi masks and weakened elemental powers, guiding their communities. colors. The randomization strategy meant collectors had to hunt through multiple packs to complete a full mask collection. Rarity variants (infected Hau masks, the bright orange Vahi, and manufacturing misprints) made the hunt more complex and valuable to collectors and completionists alike.
What Was Inside#

The KanohiKanohiMasks that grant powers and sustain life, they're the most vital artifact in the Matoran Universe. Pack was the straightforward solution to a collector's problem. Players wanted to build complete mask collections for the Toa Mata and TuragaTuragaFormer Toa who fulfilled their destiny and transformed into leaders. Turaga wield Noble Kanohi masks and weakened elemental powers, guiding their communities., but each full set was expensive. LEGO offered an alternative: sealed packs containing exactly two random masks, one Great KanohiGreat KanohiThe most common mask type worn by Toa and other powerful beings, forged from the highest-grade Kanoka discs. and one Noble KanohiNoble KanohiMasks worn by Turaga and some Matoran, Noble Kanohi traded raw power for broader accessibility across Mata Nui's inhabitants.. Regional Variants#
The KanohiKanohiMasks that grant powers and sustain life, they're the most vital artifact in the Matoran Universe. Pack received different packaging depending on region. In the U.K. and Europe, packs arrived in sealed bag form. The U.S. market later received boxed versions, which offered better shelf presence and easier storage for collectors pursuing the full set.
Rare Finds and Misprints#
Not every pack contained what the checklist promised. Some held infected Hau masks instead of standard Noble KanohiNoble KanohiMasks worn by Turaga and some Matoran, Noble Kanohi traded raw power for broader accessibility across Mata Nui's inhabitants.. A few collectors reported seeing these variants within sealed packs, though the frequency remains unclear. Rarer still were the bright orange Vahi masks, which shouldn't have appeared in these packs at all. They were meant to be exclusive to the later Vahi collectible sets.
Manufacturing errors added another layer of chase.
