What was Libran?

Libran was a planet in the Cyrannus star system orbiting the star Helios Gamma, and one of the Twelve Colonies of Kobol. Known as "The Colony of Justice," it was a stormy jungle world that remained underdeveloped for most of its history.

Why was Libran called the Colony of Justice?

Libran was chosen as the seat of the Inter-Colonial Court, which settled disputes among the colonies. The court sat in Themis, the planet's only major settlement, and from there resolved disagreements between the Twelve Worlds, earning Libran its reputation as "The Colony of Justice."

Why was Libran selected to host the Inter-Colonial Court?

Some two hundred years before the Cylon War, Caprica made efforts to create a Colonial Government, and Libran was selected to host the Inter-Colonial Court because of its undeveloped and neutral nature. Its stormy climate and limited development made it a neutral ground for the court.

Did Libran have a capital?

Libran had no legal capital, making it one of only two of the Twelve Worlds without a fixed capital, along with Aquaria. Themis, the planet's only major settlement, served as its de facto capital despite holding no legal status as one.

What were the notable landmarks of Libran?

The Supreme Hall of Justice and the Themis Arena were among the planet's notable sites. The Grand Library of Libran was an architectural landmark of the colony.
