The Perseus-type was a civilian freighter that operated through the long interwar period between the two Cylon conflicts and remained in service into the Second Cylon War. Propelled by eight sublight engines and a set of maneuvering thrusters, and fitted with an FTL drive, the type was built for faster-than-light cargo runs across the Twelve Colonies. When the Colonies fell, at least two Perseus-type freighters survived to join the ragtag refugee fleet gathered under the protection of the battlestar Galactica.
