Thera Sita was one of at least three SCT-type shuttles, alongside the Kimba Huta, that survived the Fall of the Twelve Colonies and joined the refugee fleet. Carrying a complement of roughly 464 passengers, it was propelled by three sublight engines and maneuvering thrusters and carried a faster-than-light drive. The ship was first noted shortly before the fleet colonized New Caprica, when its name appeared on the vote tally board for the presidential elections held among the survivors. The passage and the Mellorak outbreak#
During the passage through a radioactive star cluster, Lee Adama's Raptor guided the Thera Sita through on the first of the fleet's jumps toward the algae planet. Several other ships were lost on the way, and the resulting overcrowding saw 301 of the Thera Sita's people housed for a time in Dogsville, a makeshift civilian habitat aboard the Galactica; some of them had contracted Mellorak sickness.
