Air Axe
The Air Axe is a weapon used to channel elemental energy and engage in melee combat. Formerly carried by Toa Mata Lewa and later by the Toa Kaita Wairuha, the Air Axe was eventually transformed into the Air Katana.
The Air Axe was the Toa Tool of Toa Mata LewaLewaToa of Air, member of the Toa Mata and Toa Nuva, whose career was marked by repeated possession, body theft, and aerial campaigns from Le-Wahi to Karda Nui.. He used it to channel his Elemental Power over Air, to slice through the foliage of Le-Wahi, and to defend himself in combat. When the first mask Lewa found, a Kakama, lay at the bottom of an underwater cave in Le-Wahi, his foot became caught in a tangle of seaweed; the Toa of Air would have drowned had he not used his Air Axe to cut himself free before rocketing to the surface with the speed granted by the newfound mask.
When Lewa became a Toa Nuva via Energized Protodermis, his Air Axe was transformed into a pair of Air Katana. The twin blades could be tucked under his arms to form glider wings.
In BIONICLE Heroes, Toa Kongu used the Air Axe as his primary weapon, where it could be upgraded to Toa Metru Matau's Aero Slicers.
