Powers and tools#

As an Av-MatoranAv-MatoranThe Light-element Matoran, prototypes of their species, who colonised Karda Nui from the Southern Continent and built the Stalactite Villages above the Swamp of Secrets., Takanuva originally possessed minuscule Light powers, enabling him to generate blasts of light and change the color of his armor. As a Toa of LightTakanuvaHidden among the Ta-Matoran as Takua, the disguised Av-Matoran who became Takanuva was the sole Toa of Light produced in the Matoran Universe's full history., he could manipulate and control light on a much stronger level, able to shoot a powerful beam of light that could either freeze or destroy enemies, or create a sphere of light energy to throw, among other effects. As a Turaga, this version of Takanuva possessed severely weakened Light powers.

Although a Toa, and later a Turaga, Takanuva still had the Av-Matoran ability to form a mental link with another Toa. He could also alter his apparent color and make holograms of himself.

As a Matoran, Takanuva wore a powerless blue Pakari. Upon his transformation into a Toa, his mask became the Avohkii, the Great Kanohi of Light, which augmented his elemental powers and could bring peace and understanding to others, as well as reverse the effects of the Kraahkan. As a Turaga, this version of Takanuva wore the Noble Avohkii, which held the same powers as the Great Avohkii but on a much weaker level. As a Toa he carried the Staff of LightStaff of LightThe Staff of Light was the Toa Tool of Takanuva, channelling his elemental power and retaining its origin as the Kolhii stick Takua had carried as a Matoran. as his Toa Tool, allowing him to channel his elemental powers more efficiently; after becoming a Turaga he carried a Badge of OfficeBadge of OfficeThe Badge of Office was the staff or tool carried by a Turaga to symbolize experience and authority, most often the transformed Toa Tool the elder had wielded in their days as a Toa., which doubled as both a cane for his frail body and a symbol of his authority.
