Colin Barrow was the dig foreman of the Concordance Extraction Corporation mining colony on Aegis VII and the husband of Jennifer Barrow. A skeptic who dismissed the Red Marker as a simple rock, he was the man who, in his refusal to leave his wife behind, carried the Necromorph infection to the USG Ishimura.
The dig on Aegis VII#
A skeptic toward Unitology and anything supernatural, Colin Barrow refused to treat the Marker as more than an ordinary rock, dismissing the disturbances spreading through the colony as so much nonsense. He was a devoted and highly protective husband, and when his wife Jennifer began to develop the same dementia as the rest of the colonists, he made sure she stayed at home.
As dig foreman he led the preparations for the planet crack and was charged with transporting the Marker into the colony together with the miners Glenn and Jackson. Despite his skepticism, even Colin felt a moment of extreme discomfort when the artifact was removed, though it did nothing to change his judgment of the situation.
The second Aegis VII incident#
During the communications blackout that followed the planet crack, Colin and Glenn were piloting a shuttle far from the colony, which spared them the initial slaughter when the Necromorphs rose. On landing they found the Corruption spreading across the halls, and Colin immediately set out to find Jennifer, leaving Glenn behind in the dark. On his way he passed the aftermath of the infection and lingering Necromorphs, and reached his quarters to find Jennifer in a catatonic state, cutting herself with her own fingernails and covering the room with Marker symbols. Moments later she activated a rock saw and took her own life by slitting her throat.
The Ishimura#
Refusing to accept his wife's death, Colin moved her body onto his shuttle and set off for the orbiting USG Ishimura to escape the doomed colony, unaware that an Infector had slipped aboard. Determined to reach the ship, he ignored every order to return to the planet and maneuvered to land in one of the docking bays, firing the port boosters to slip inside before the bay doors closed. Just as the shuttle cleared the doors and crash landed, his reanimated wife attacked him. The volume of blood inside the craft and the absence of any bodies suggested that Colin was killed and transformed into a Necromorph.
