In the 2023 remake, Poul returned home from an extended tour whose events EarthGov had classified. By that time Octavia had fallen fully under her Unitologist conditioning, and both of them died; the remake's background report gives the cause of death as unknown. Although he had never been a member of the Church, the Church of Unitology moved in immediately after the deaths and took both bodies, leaving Isaac unable to say goodbye to either parent.
