A standard sidearm#
The Submachine Gun was a compact automatic firearm carried as a standard-issue sidearm. Though smaller and lighter than the heavier industrial tools survivors turned on the Necromorphs, it was widely favored and saw use across the conflict around Tau Volantis. It was one of the first two weapons Isaac Clarke had when he set out, given to him by John Carver after Isaac agreed to join him and Captain Robert Norton on their expedition.
Users and variants#
Many people carried the Submachine Gun, among them Jacob Arthur Danik, several members of the Circle, and Robert Norton. By the standards of the age it appeared to be a modern weapon, setting it apart from the older Sovereign Colonies Armed Forces firearms used by Carver and by the Circle's soldiers, which dated to the earlier Tau Volantis expedition. An EarthGov-manufactured model, the EG-900 SMG, existed alongside it as a separate variant of the same class of weapon.
