The results explained#
Garrus Vakarian#
Garrus left C-Sec when his investigation into Saren was shut down, arguing that it shouldn't matter how a thing was done as long as it was done. (Mass Effect) After Shepard was lost he went to Omega and waged war on its gangs as the vigilante Archangel, until a betrayal got his squad killed. (Mass Effect 2) In the Reaper War he ended up coordinating the turian fleets, hating the cold arithmetic of it but doing the job anyway. (Mass Effect 3)
Liara T'Soni#
Liara chose archaeology partly to escape the pressure of being Matriarch Benezia's daughter, and her long stretches alone left her shy around people. (Mass Effect) After the Shadow Broker tried to sell Shepard's body to the Collectors, she spent two years hunting him, killed the yahg who held the title and took it herself. (Mass Effect 2: Lair of the Shadow Broker) As the new Broker she traced the Prothean plans that became the Crucible. (Mass Effect 3)
Tali'Zorah#
On her Pilgrimage, Tali pulled a memory core from a geth unit that held the first warning of the Reapers, and that evidence got Saren stripped of his Spectre status. (Mass Effect) She was later tried for treason by the Admiralty Board and came out of it as Tali'Zorah vas Normandy. (Mass Effect 2) During the Reaper War she helped lead the fight to retake Rannoch and dared to hope for a home on it. (Mass Effect 3)
Urdnot Wrex#
Wrex argued that the krogan should rebuild instead of going back to war, and after his father Jarrod ambushed him he left his people for three centuries of mercenary work. (Mass Effect) If he survived Virmire, he returned to Tuchanka and united the clans. (Mass Effect 2) During the Reaper War he made a cure for the genophage his price for krogan support. (Mass Effect 3)
Mordin Solus#
Mordin led the STG science team that designed and released a modified genophage, then struggled for years with the ethics of it. (Mass Effect 2) He ran a clinic on Omega before Shepard recruited him to run the ship's tech labs. (Mass Effect 2) On Tuchanka he came to believe that undoing the genophage was his responsibility. (Mass Effect 3)
Thane Krios#
Given to the hanar as a child and trained to kill from the age of six, Thane saw his body as a tool separate from his soul until a woman named Irikah woke him from it. (Mass Effect 2) When she was murdered in revenge for one of his contracts, he hunted down everyone responsible. (Mass Effect 2) Dying of Kepral's Syndrome, he joined Shepard looking for redemption and reconciled with his son, Kolyat. (Mass Effect 2)
Miranda Lawson#
Miranda was created by her father from a modified copy of his own genome and raised under his tight control, until she ran away and joined Cerberus for protection. (Mass Effect 2) She led the Lazarus Project that brought Shepard back and secretly worked to shield her twin sister Oriana from their father. (Mass Effect 2) In the Reaper War she hunted him down after he took Oriana. (Mass Effect 3)
Jack#
Cerberus took Jack as a small child and made her the central subject of the Teltin facility, where she was tortured and conditioned to kill. (Mass Effect 2) She escaped in a biotic rampage, was eventually frozen aboard a prison ship, and after Shepard freed her she went back to destroy Teltin. (Mass Effect 2) Later she taught young biotics at Grissom Academy and defended them from Cerberus. (Mass Effect 3)
Frequently asked questions
- Which squadmates can I get in this quiz?
- Eight: Garrus Vakarian, Liara T'Soni, Tali'Zorah, Urdnot Wrex, Mordin Solus, Thane Krios, Miranda Lawson and Jack. Each one turns up five times across the answers, so they're all equally reachable.
- How is my result worked out?
- Every answer counts towards one squadmate, and whoever you pick most often wins. If two are tied, the one listed first in the results takes it.
- Does the quiz spoil the games?
- The questions don't, but the result descriptions mention things like Garrus becoming Archangel and Liara taking over the Shadow Broker's network. If you haven't finished Mass Effect 2, read the results with care.
