Jake Muller: Albert Wesker's Son in Resident Evil 6

Jake Muller is a mercenary who turns out to be Albert Wesker's son, and whose blood holds the cure for the C-Virus. In Resident Evil 6 Sherry Birkin is sent to bring him in. Here is his background, what happens to him from Edonia to China, and what he does with the price on his blood.

By Joe Garratt

Jake Muller is a mercenary in Resident Evil 6 and the son of Albert Wesker. He grew up never knowing who his father was. What he did inherit was Wesker's resistance to viruses, and in 2012 that made his blood the only hope of a vaccine against the C-Virus. (Resident Evil 6)

Who is Jake Muller?#

Jake's mother was chronically ill, and with proper care she could have got better. They barely had enough to live on. His father had walked out, and Jake couldn't understand why his mother still loved the man. To pay for her treatment Jake became a soldier of fortune, selling his skills to insurgents. She died soon after he started. (Resident Evil 6)

That hardened him. By 2012 Jake trusted nothing but cash and didn't care whose cause he was fighting for. He's a superb hand-to-hand fighter, cynical and quick with a put-down. (Resident Evil 6)

Wesker's son#

Derek Simmons, the US National Security Advisor, had been looking for Wesker's child. A DNA sample proved Jake was Wesker's son, and Simmons's report notes that Wesker's immunity to viral infection had shown up in him. That's why Jake injected the C-Virus and came out unchanged. (Resident Evil 6)

Jake himself didn't know any of this until the woman who had handed out the supplements told him, after his capture. He spent his six months in custody learning what his father had done, including the plan to wipe out most of humanity that Chris Redfield had stopped in Resident Evil 5. It made him hate Wesker more. (Resident Evil 6)

Edonia, December 2012#

Jake was fighting for the rebels in Edonia's civil war when the woman gave his unit their supplements. Everyone else who took them turned into the creatures the BSAA called J'avo. Sherry Birkin arrived and explained: a new virus was out there, his blood had the antibodies, and the US government wanted it. Jake agreed for fifty million dollars. (Resident Evil 6)

A huge bioweapon, the Ustanak, hunted them across the country. They crossed paths with Chris Redfield and his BSAA team, and Piers Nivans wanted Jake arrested for fighting with the rebels. Chris let them leave on a helicopter instead. The Ustanak brought it down. When Sherry was impaled by wreckage and healed in front of him, she told him about Raccoon City and the G-Virus in her body. At the border they were captured and taken to a facility in China. (Resident Evil 6)

China, June 2013#

After six months as test subjects, Jake broke them both out. Sherry's boss, Simmons, arranged to meet them in Lanshiang. On the way they ran into Leon S. Kennedy and Helena Harper, who told them Simmons was behind the attacks. There was a tense stand-off between Jake and Leon until Sherry vouched for the man who had saved her as a child. The meeting with Simmons was a trap, and they were captured again. (Resident Evil 6)

Chris and Piers freed them from a facility on the seabed. Chris then told Jake he was the man who killed Wesker. Jake pulled a gun on him, and Chris didn't resist. Jake lowered it. There were bigger things to deal with, and Carla Radames's creature Haos was waking up. Jake took Sherry and ran. (Resident Evil 6)

The Ustanak caught them one last time. Jake fought it hand to hand and knocked it into molten rock, and when it came back again he steadied Sherry's grip on her gun for the killing shot. (Resident Evil 6)

What happens to Jake Muller#

Jake gave Sherry a sample of his blood and sent her a message dropping his fee from fifty million dollars to fifty. A vaccine was made from his blood and the outbreak was slowly brought under control. (Resident Evil 6)

His final scene takes him back to work, somewhere war-torn. A boy asks him for protection, and Jake agrees in exchange for an apple. When the monsters come, he tells the boy fair's fair and goes out to meet them. (Resident Evil 6)

Frequently asked questions

Is Jake Muller Wesker's son?
Yes. A DNA test arranged by National Security Advisor Derek Simmons confirmed it, and Jake inherited his father's resistance to viruses. Jake never met Wesker and only learns who he was in Resident Evil 6.
Why is Jake Muller's blood important?
It carries antibodies to the C-Virus. He injected the virus and didn't mutate, and a vaccine made from his blood brought the 2013 outbreak under control.
Does Jake know Chris killed his father?
Yes. Chris tells him in the undersea facility at the end of Resident Evil 6. Jake draws a gun on him, then lets it go because there are bigger things at stake.
What happens to Jake Muller after Resident Evil 6?
He gives Sherry a blood sample, cuts his fee from fifty million dollars to fifty, and goes back to mercenary work. His last scene shows him protecting a boy in a war-torn town in exchange for an apple.
Are Jake and Sherry together?
The game leaves it open. They grow close over six months of captivity and the escape, and part on friendly terms, but nothing romantic is confirmed.
