Carina was a flattop, one of the broad, flat-decked civilian ships seen throughout the Fleet. It had a faster-than-light drive, which let it keep up with the rest of the survivors, but the show gave no further detail of its role or fittings. (Battlestar Galactica, "The Passage")
Loss in the star cluster#
Carina survived the destruction of the Colonies and traveled with the civilian fleet. With food running out, the Fleet had to cross a radiation-filled star cluster to reach the algae planet, with Raptors leading the civilian ships through in groups.
