Delphi: the Colonial school ship
freighter of the refugee fleet
Delphi was a freighter that escaped the Cylon attack on the Twelve Colonies of Man and joined the civilian fleet led by Galactica. Used chiefly to school and shelter the fleet's children, it was destroyed by a Cylon patrol while carrying them back to Earth.
Delphi was a freighter that escaped the Cylon attack on the Twelve Colonies of Man and formed part of the civilian fleet led by Galactica. The ship served predominantly as a place of education and could carry a large number of the fleet's children.
Role in the fleet#
Delphi was one of the freighters that survived the Cylon attack on the Colonies and joined the fleet of refugee ships shepherded by Galactica. It was used above all as a place of education, and its capacity allowed it to carry a large number of children, making it a vessel devoted to the schooling and protection of the fleet's young.
Loss near Earth#
Following the discovery of Earth and the fleet's departure from it, Delphi was sent back to land its children on the planet so they would be safe from the Cylons. During the journey back, the ship experienced engine trouble that drew the attention of a Cylon patrol. A Viper squadron destroyed the attackers, but Delphi had already suffered serious damage. The freighter exploded seconds after its shuttles completed their evacuation.
Original Series#
Delphi belonged to the Original Series continuity, in which the survivors of the Twelve Colonies of Man fled the Cylons aboard a ragtag fleet in search of Earth. It should not be confused with Delphi, a major city of the colony Caprica in the Reimagined Series continuity.
