The Raider Type II was a Cylon fighter armed with a pair of laser cannons and deployed in large numbers from Cylon basestars. A swarm of more than a hundred was launched against the battlestar Osiris during the Battle of Djerba.
The Raider Type II was the Cylon fighter of the Cylon War, a big flying wing armed with guns and missiles and launched in large numbers from Cylon basestars. Unlike the later living Raiders, it was crewed by Centurions. It served alongside the other Cylon Raider variants during the war against the Colonies. During the Battle of Djerba, in the tenth year of the war, a Cylon basestar launched its Raiders against the battlestar Osiris and its Mark III Vipers. After the battlestar took heavy damage that left it unable to launch its nuclear missiles, its commander, Ozar, rammed the basestar and manually detonated the ship's warheads, destroying both ships with all hands. In the last days of the war, Raiders working alongside basestar missile salvos destroyed the battlestar Columbia. Some forty years later, Raiders of this old type were still in service aboard a lone Cylon War-era basestar that the battlestar Pegasus stumbled on. (Battlestar Galactica: Razor)
