It stands among the desert settlements where the five tribes lived apart after the disaster that scattered the Agori and Glatorian, alongside Vulcanus, Roxtus, Tesara, Tajun, and Atero.

The village is known for its mineral wealth. Iconox traders deal in exsidian, the valuable metal mined from the surrounding mountains, and rumors among the Agori held that those mountains were thick with it. On one occasion Iconox had to send a shipment of exsidian to Vulcanus as payment after its fighter Gelu lost a match, a caravan made perilous by the Bone Hunters who preyed on any traffic crossing the desert.

Iconox was home to several Glatorian of the Ice Tribe. Strakk fought for the village and was known for his profit-driven temperament, while Gelu also resided there and was trained by the veteran Certavus; after Certavus died, Strakk became the prime Glatorian and Gelu the second. The village once filed a formal complaint against Malum, and with all its challenges refused, the village leader Raanu was forced to exile him.

In the era of the Element Lords, an Energized Protodermis spring was discovered near Iconox. The Element Lord of Ice, greedy for the power it offered, refused to share it with the other Element Lords, a refusal that helped ignite the war over Spherus Magna.

After the Battle of Roxtus, Iconox united with Vulcanus, Tesara, and Tajun, and Mata Nui declared Ackar the first leader of the joined villagers.
