Along with Agori from various villages, including Kyry, Crotesius, and Scodonius, he was assigned to prepare Arena Magna in Atero for the coming Glatorian tournament, carrying out minor repairs in the year before Glatorian from across the desert descended on the city.
It was during these preparations that Tarduk found a map in the sand marked with a Red Star. Tarduk, Crotesius, and Kirbold decided to follow it, launching an expedition north to discover the secret of the Red Star. The journey carried them deep into dangerous territory, and they had many altercations with the Element Lords along the way.
The three Agori encountered Wasteland Wolves and were forced to follow them into their hive. They later reached the Forest of Blades, a place filled with trees that held weapons. Kirbold decided to return to Iconox after this discovery, while Tarduk and Crotesius pressed on, only to be captured by the Element Lord of Jungle. Kirbold then returned, carrying a lit torch, and threw it into the plants, allowing all three Agori to escape and continue toward a river.
Kirbold also took part in trading expeditions across the desert. Hired guides moved caravans through territory made lethal by the Bone Hunters, who had begun severing trading connections between villages, particularly with the Water Tribe village of Tajun, and killed the coachmen they ambushed. On one such crossing alongside Tarduk, Gresh, and Strakk, Kirbold rode the coachman's seat and warned his companions of the dangers ahead, including the Sea of Liquid Sand south of Vulcanus. The group ran into a swarm of Dune Snakes during the journey.
