Nui Stone

A red artifact that hunts Toa and drains their power within 3000 kio, sought by Tuyet in ancient Metru Nui to gain strength against enemies only she could see.

By Lore Fortress Editorial

The Nui Stone is a red artifact with one terrifying mechanic: it hunts Toa. Unlike Toa StonesToa StonesSmall stones charged with a portion of a Toa's power, used to awaken the dormant Toa Power within a destined Matoran and elevate them into a Toa., which wait passively for a bearer, the Nui Stone is active by nature. Once activated, it pulls energy from every Toa within 3000 kio, so slowly that victims won't notice the theft until it's irreversible. Whoever holds the Stone absorbs all that stolen power. A Predatory Artifact#

What makes the Nui Stone different from every other Toa power source is that it hunts. It is active rather than passive, taking energy rather than waiting for it to be given. Once activated, it absorbs minute amounts of energy from any Toa within a 3000 Kio radius so slowly and surely that the theft won't be noticed until it's too late. Then that stolen energy can be absorbed by a living being. She theorized that one being could eventually draw power from dozens or hundreds of Toa, or more.

The radius is staggering. Every Toa in the metropolis would have been slowly losing power to the Stone's hunger. The more Toa nearby, the faster the accumulation. No single being had ever held that kind of strength before.

TuyetTuyetA Toa of Water caught in the Order's machinations, Tuyet turned from peer-seeker to rebel-schemer.'s reasoning was straightforward: she needed to become strong enough to defeat what she saw as threats from the Dark Hunters and the MakutaMakuta (Species)Shadowy Antidermis beings and the Brotherhood's elite, Makuta commanded darkness and shaped the Matoran Universe's fate.. But other Toa, especially LhikanLhikanToa of Fire, leader of the Toa Mangai, and the last Toa of Metru Nui, who surrendered his Toa Power to create the Toa Metru and died defending Vakama., would have objected. So she kept the Stone hidden, acting alone.

That secrecy failed. She was captured and thrown into prison for her crimes.

The Stone Embedded#

What made her imprisonment complicated was that the Nui Stone had fused into her body. Fragments of it became embedded in her flesh, making her both a living battery of stolen power and a liability. As long as other Toa existed in the world, she could continue draining energy and escape. They spent 1500 years interrogating her about the mechanism, trying to understand how to create more Nui Stones. They never succeeded. Instead, they locked her away in another dimension, removing her from any world where Toa could exist.
