What Su-Matoran Are#
The BIONICLEBIONICLE: Matoran AdventuresA 2002 GBA platformer where you play as one of six Matoran fighting Bohrok across Mata Nui's islands. universe operates on an elemental principle: each element has both Toa and MatoranMatoranThe most abundant species in the Matoran Universe, chosen by Mata Nui to inhabit and maintain his cosmic body.. Fire has both a Toa and MatoranMatoranThe most abundant species in the Matoran Universe, chosen by Mata Nui to inhabit and maintain his cosmic body.. Water has both. Earth, Air, Ice, Stone, Light, Shadow, Magnetism, all follow this pattern. When Plasma Toa arrived in 2007 during the PirakaPirakaSix rogue Skakdi mercenaries who broke from the Dark Hunters to hunt the Mask of Life on Voya Nui. arc, Su-MatoranMatoranThe most abundant species in the Matoran Universe, chosen by Mata Nui to inhabit and maintain his cosmic body. became a logical necessity. Greg Farshtey never wrote them into the story. No set included them. No serial mentioned them by name. But logic demands they existed somewhere in that vast fictional world, even if their home never made it onto the page.
Characteristics and Habitat#
Su-MatoranMatoranThe most abundant species in the Matoran Universe, chosen by Mata Nui to inhabit and maintain his cosmic body. would've lived in hot regions, fitting the element of Plasma perfectly. Their primary colors were orange and white. As for resistances, they'd have heat and sunlight tolerance, the standard traits of Plasma MatoranMatoranThe most abundant species in the Matoran Universe, chosen by Mata Nui to inhabit and maintain his cosmic body.. These abilities made sense for inhabitants of volcanic zones, deserts, or other hot climates. The fact that Su-MatoranMatoranThe most abundant species in the Matoran Universe, chosen by Mata Nui to inhabit and maintain his cosmic body. never appeared in any story or location we explored suggests they lived in regions the canon never touched. Their home remained a gap in the world.
Why We Never Saw Them#
The simplest answer is that the story didn't take us there. Plasma MatoranMatoranThe most abundant species in the Matoran Universe, chosen by Mata Nui to inhabit and maintain his cosmic body. would've lived in hot regions, and the saga's major arcs (Metru Nui, Mata NuiMata NuiBuilt by the Great Beings to restore Spherus Magna, Mata Nui sustained an entire civilisation inside his body, was deposed by Teridax, and reclaimed his purpose as a mortal on Bara Magna., Voya NuiVoya NuiAn island born from catastrophe and hiding the universe's most powerful artifact, Voya Nui was everything Bionicle 2006 promised: danger, mystery, and a race against time., Mahri NuiMahri NuiA matoran settlement that sank, survived, and was ultimately crushed beneath Voya Nui, leaving behind one of Bionicle's most poignant lost civilizations.) didn't explore these zones. Su-MatoranMatoranThe most abundant species in the Matoran Universe, chosen by Mata Nui to inhabit and maintain his cosmic body. aren't retconned or erased from lore. They're just unlucky, living where the Toa never traveled and the narrative had no reason to go. Every fictional world has corners nobody sees. The BIONICLEBIONICLE: Matoran AdventuresA 2002 GBA platformer where you play as one of six Matoran fighting Bohrok across Mata Nui's islands. universe simply left this one unexplored.
