Treespeak: The Slang of the Le-Matoran
Treespeak was the distinctive slang of the Le-Matoran, a form of speech that fused two words into one. Known as treespeak on the island of Mata Nui and chutespeak on Metru Nui, it marked the air-dwelling villagers and was spoken most famously by Matau.

A speech of the air villages#
Treespeak belonged to the Le-MatoranLe-MatoranGreen-powered Matoran obsessed with thrills and transport. They're basically Bionicle's daredevils., who valued Unity and Duty and from them derived the principle of Faith, and who were known for adventurousness and a willingness to take risks. Their speech matched their temperament. The defining trait of treespeak was the fusion of two words into one, so that an ordinary phrase became a single compound term, as in "happy-joy" or "Toa-hero." The slang took its first name from the treetop villages of Le-KoroLe-KoroLe-Koro is a village situated within Le-Wahi, inhabited by the Le-Matoran and home to Turaga Matau and Toa Lewa. Speakers and record#
The most prominent speaker of treespeak was MatauMatauA former Le-Metru test driver who became a Toa Metru, Matau wielded air, illusion, and shape-shifting before sacrificing his Toa power to wake the sleeping Matoran., who, like most Le-MatoranLe-MatoranGreen-powered Matoran obsessed with thrills and transport. The slang was distinctive enough that those who did not speak it could find it hard to follow, and a short dictionary of treespeak was set down among the guides to the Matoran world so that its compounds could be understood.
