The Divet was a standard sidearm issued to crew members and security personnel of the Concordance Extraction Corporation. A compact pistol with fully automatic fire, it became one of the most common personal weapons carried by P-Sec officers during the Aegis VII and Ishimura incidents.
Design#
The Divet was a compact pistol with fully automatic fire. In its primary mode it fired laser-sliced slugs composed of a lead alloy, and in its secondary mode it shot three slugs at once, producing a spread similar to a shotgun. It proved very effective against people: a shot from one Divet perforated the head of a team member who had been driven insane by Marker 3A. Against Necromorphs it was capable of chopping off the creatures' limbs, but this usually required well-placed shots, as otherwise the slugs seemed to penetrate the body without doing damage. Concentrated fire gave a Divet user some protection against Necromorphs, provided they were not surrounded by a large number of them. Its accuracy and rapid fire made it particularly useful against small targets such as the tentacles of certain Necromorphs.
Service history#
The Divet, also known as the P-Sec Pistol, was carried widely by the security personnel of the Concordance Extraction Corporation, and it appeared in use across the Aegis VII and Ishimura incidents. It was commonly seen in the hands of officers such as Gabe Weller and Nathan McNeill. Aboard the USG Ishimura, Kendra Daniels used a Divet to kill Dr. Terrence Kyne. Variants of the weapon saw service over a long span: some models were fitted with a muzzle compensator and ejected spent metal cases from rear flaps when fired, while others demonstrated a little more stopping power, able to pierce a hole clean through a Necromorph's head.
