George Cochran: SCAF Sergeant at Radio Station 9
Sergeant George Cochran commanded a platoon at Radio Station 9 on Tau Volantis. Driven mad by the Marker during the ration shortages, he led his starving men to eat Necromorph flesh and turned into a Feeder.
Sergeant George Cochran was a Sovereign Colonies soldier stationed at Radio Station 9 on Tau Volantis, where he commanded a platoon during the SCAF expedition. As ration shortages set in, the Marker's influence drove him to lead his starving men into cannibalism, and he ended as a Feeder. His fall was recorded in audio logs left by the survivor Samuel Ackerman.
Command at Radio Station 9#
Sergeant George Cochran was stationed at Radio Station 9 on Tau Volantis during the SCAF expedition and commanded a platoon there. His leadership was especially important during the lean times of ration shortages that gripped the garrison.
At one point Cochran was assigned to enter Supply Depot 212, both to locate the missing Sergeant Lumley and to secure the site's stockpile of food and ammunition. He took Private Sam Ackerman with him, and the two began searching the depot, which seemed abandoned. Deeper inside they found evidence that Lumley had gone insane, crucifying the soldiers under his command and writing phrases such as "Make Us Whole" and "Turn It Off" across the walls.
Descent into cannibalism#
Despite the disturbing scene, Cochran was determined to find the food and munitions that would keep his soldiers from starving and running out of ammunition. Ackerman pleaded to leave, but Cochran pressed on and the private followed reluctantly. As they went deeper, Ackerman noticed Cochran acting strangely; the same Marker dementia that had broken Lumley was already at work on him. When Ackerman remarked on the lack of food, Cochran reassured him that he and the others would "all feed soon," which unnerved the private.
Following the signal from Lumley's RIG, the two reached the stockpile and found that Lumley had deliberately spoiled the entire ration supply. Where Ackerman despaired, Cochran insisted that there was still food to be found and revealed that he intended to eat the flesh of the Necromorphs they had killed. He set off to tell the other soldiers they had to eat the infected to survive, and Ackerman's attempts to stop them failed.
Transformation#
Cochran could later be heard on an audio log recorded by Sam Ackerman, who had hidden after witnessing the soldiers' slow, horrific transformation from eating Necromorph flesh. Cochran heard and smelled Ackerman, declared him "fresh meat," and led the other infected in a mad rush to devour the private. Ackerman sealed himself away and called for help before escaping the bunker, leaving Cochran and his former comrades behind. Cochran was last heard wailing "Make us whole" as Sam disabled the elevator. Described by Ackerman as highly sensitive to light and sound, he completed his transformation into a Feeder, losing all that remained of his humanity.
