The Slug
The Massive Necromorph of the Ishimura
The Slug was an enormous Necromorph that clamped itself over the blast doors of the USG Ishimura, blocking the communications array Isaac Clarke needed to warn the USM Valor away from an infected escape pod. It was driven off only by the ship''s own anti-asteroid cannons.
The Slug was an enormous Necromorph that fastened itself over the hull of the USG Ishimura, covering the blast doors that protected the ship's communications array. Its presence stood between Isaac Clarke and an urgent warning he needed to send, and it could only be dislodged by turning the Ishimura's own anti-asteroid guns against it.
On the Ishimura#
The Slug was an exceedingly large Necromorph that fastened itself over the blast doors on the hull of the USG Ishimura. Those doors sealed the communications array that Isaac Clarke needed to broadcast a message to the military frigate USM Valor, warning its crew not to open an escape pod they had recovered, which contained a Slasher. With the creature in place, the warning could not be sent.
The Slug was initially placid and would not attack unless fired upon. Once provoked, it reared up its five tentacles and began tearing at the ship, hurling chunks of hull and explosive gas canisters at whatever threatened it. Each tentacle carried a weak point near the creature's body, a bulbous yellow mass exposed when it lifted to strike.
The battle and aftermath#
To clear the array, Isaac fought the Slug from ADS Cannon 48, one of the Ishimura's anti-asteroid emplacements. The fight demanded he destroy the weak point on each of the five tentacles while at the same time shooting down the debris the creature flung at the cannon tower, with the explosive canisters posing the greater danger to the emplacement. When all five tentacles had been destroyed, the Slug released its grip on the Ishimura and floated off into space. With the doors clear, Kendra Daniels was able to broadcast the warning to the USM Valor, telling its crew not to open the escape pod they had taken aboard.

The USM Valor was an Earth Defense Force Destroyer sent to the Aegis system in 2508 to recover Marker 3A and erase all witnesses.
