Unitologist Cult
The Circle's Remnant Aboard the Terra Nova
The Unitologist Cult was a new church formed by survivors of the Circle aboard the CMS Terra Nova, who mutilated their bodies to resemble Necromorphs in worship of the Brethren Moons.
The Unitologist Cult was a new church formed by survivors of the Circle aboard the CMS Terra Nova, who mutilated their own bodies to resemble Necromorphs in worship of the Brethren Moons. It was the last remnant of the Circle's faith, and it ended when Isaac Clarke and John Carver came aboard the ship.
Formation#
The Unitologist Cult grew out of the wreckage of the Circle. Members who survived the events on Tau Volantis and the destruction of that world's Brethren Moon sought refuge aboard the CMS Terra Nova. After the death of Jacob Danik, the loss of the Moon, and the prevention of Convergence, their faith was badly shaken by the carnage the Necromorphs had wrought. One member remained steadfast and took the experience as a sign of things to come. He and the survivors were soon contacted by the awakened Brethren Moons, an encounter that drove several of them mad: some huddled together repeating that the Moons were hungry and coming, while others killed themselves. Many still reached the Terra Nova, where they built a new church under their prophet's guidance.
Beliefs and rites#
The prophet and his followers raised their church in the name of the Brethren Moons and of Convergence, and they venerated the dead Jacob Danik as their saint. In their madness they began dismembering and mutilating themselves to resemble the Necromorphs, the Slashers in particular, removing their hands and bolting garish metal fixtures to their backs and arms to imitate a Slasher's claws. Their severed body parts were offered to the Brethren Moons as ritual gifts, arranged in shrines set up around the Terra Nova alongside the corpses of Necromorphs already left aboard the ship.
Destruction#
In time Isaac Clarke and John Carver returned to the Terra Nova, meaning to use its ShockPoint Drive to reach Earth and unaware that the Cult had taken the ship. With the Brethren Moons actively afflicting the two survivors with heavy dementia, the cultists lay in wait for a chance to ambush them. For all their efforts the Cult was wiped out by Isaac and Carver, and the Moons abandoned the cultists once their deception had been laid bare.
