Vestri
Survey Shuttle of the USG Ishimura
The Vestri was a survey shuttle attached to the USG Ishimura, used to land on the Aegis VII Colony before the planet crack. A handful of survivors used it to flee the Necromorph outbreak, only to be fired on by the Ishimura's defense cannons and forced to crash on the ship's hull.
The Vestri was a survey shuttle attached to the USG Ishimura, the planet cracker working the Aegis VII Colony. It was used to land on the colony a few days before the planet crack and later carried a small group of survivors away from the Necromorph outbreak that consumed the settlement.
Service and design#
The Vestri served the USG Ishimura as a survey craft. Its design resembled that of the USG Kellion, with the addition of a cannon bubble built off the port bow against the large cockpit window. It carried two Asteroid Defense System cannons used to clear asteroids, and it held four Astro Suit survey RIGs stowed in lockers near the rear for use during survey work. Its owner, the CEC director Warren Eckhardt, considered the shuttle to be worth a fortune. A few days before the planet crack of Aegis VII, Eckhardt used the Vestri to land on the colony below.
Escape from Aegis VII#
When the Necromorph outbreak swept the colony, the Vestri became one of the few craft to leave the planet. Eckhardt escaped aboard it together with P-Sec officers Nathan McNeill and Gabe Weller and the survivor Lexine Murdoch, slipping away from the colony and the reach of the Hive Mind.
The shuttle made for the USG Ishimura and tried to dock, but the ship's Asteroid Defense System cannons opened fire to uphold a no-fly order. Gabe Weller crash-landed the damaged Vestri on the Ishimura's hull, and the survivors abandoned the wreck and entered the ship through a maintenance airlock roughly two hundred meters from the crash. The impact disrupted one of the Ishimura's cannons, which Nathan McNeill later had to shut off by hand. The Vestri was not seen again after the crash, though debris that appeared to include booster engines and engine columns drifted around the site, suggesting the shuttle had lost its engines on impact.
