Lankiveil
the cold Harkonnen world
Lankiveil was a cold maritime world of the Corrino Empire whose chief export was whale fur. Held by House Harkonnen, it was governed for a time by Abulurd, who renounced the Harkonnen name in favor of his wife's family name, Rabban.
Lankiveil was a cold maritime world within the Corrino Empire, counted among the many holdings controlled by House Harkonnen. Its chief export was whale fur, a luxury desired by the very wealthy throughout the Imperium, and it was the world's place in that trade that bound it to Harkonnen control. A sect of the Buddislam religion was dominant in its culture, lending the cold world a character apart from the Harkonnen seat on Giedi Prime.
Climate and economy#
Lankiveil was a cold maritime world, its character shaped by its seas and the trade they supported. Its chief export was whale fur, a material desired by many of the very wealthy throughout the Imperium. That trade made the world valuable, and it was one of the many planets held by House Harkonnen precisely because of its place in the whale fur economy. A sect of the Buddislam religion was dominant in the world's culture.
House Harkonnen and the Rabban line#
Before 10132 AG, Abulurd Harkonnen was granted the subdistrict governorship of Rabban-Lankiveil. Afterward he renounced the Harkonnen name and adopted the surname of his wife's family, Rabban. Abulurd and his wife had two sons, Glossu Rabban and Feyd-Rautha Rabban.
Glossu succeeded his father as Count of Lankiveil and held the title until 10193 AG, when House Harkonnen was defeated and dissolved through the actions of Paul Atreides.
