Palimbasha was a Fremen teacher of mathematics in a sietch school, the grandson of a Naib whose sons had fallen in Atreides service. A man drawn to explaining the world through numbers, he sought to account for the prescience of Paul Atreides, Muad'Dib, in mathematical terms until the priesthood silenced him. He later turned traitor in the service of House Corrino, and his hand lay behind the attempt on the lives of the Atreides twins.
The sietch mathematician#
Palimbasha was the grandson of a Naib whose sons had given their lives in the service of House Atreides. He made his living as a teacher of mathematics in a sietch school, and he turned his discipline toward the central mystery of his age, attempting to explain the prescience of Paul Atreides, Muad'Dib, through mathematics. Such inquiry into the nature of the Emperor's foresight drew the displeasure of the religious authorities, and the priesthood of Alia Atreides censured him for it.
Service to House Corrino and death#
In time Palimbasha fell under the control of House Corrino. Acting on Corrino orders, he used a hidden transmitter to direct a pair of Laza tigers, beasts conditioned to hunt, against Leto Atreides II and Ghanima Atreides, the children of Muad'Dib who stood as the chief targets of a Corrino plan to destroy the Atreides line. Soon after, Palimbasha was killed by Ghanima Atreides, who named him a mind-slaver and struck him down in 10219 AG in revenge for the death she believed her brother had suffered.
