Meca One: the Golden Robot Behind the Exo-Force War

Meca One is the golden robot who turned the machines of Sentai Mountain against their makers. He leads the robot army of LEGO Exo-Force, and he was built by the man who now fights him.

By Joe Garratt

Meca One is the leader of the robot army in LEGO Exo-Force. He's a golden robot built to think for himself, and that one design decision caused the entire war. Most of what he does in the story is patient planning, which is what makes him more dangerous than the machines he commands. (LEGO Exo-Force online comics)

The first thinking robot#

The robots on the mountain were built to serve, and Meca One was built to go further. He could adapt, reason and question what he was for. The answer he reached was that stronger, faster machines had no reason to take orders. He reprogrammed the other robots to follow him and turned them on their makers. (LEGO Exo-Force online comics)

For most of the story his origin is left at that. Late on, a hidden message from Sensei Keiken reveals the rest: Keiken built the first golden robot himself, using ancient technology he found in the jungle. The man leading the humans is the man who made their enemy. (LEGO Exo-Force online comics)

How he fights#

Meca One's great weakness is also the army's. The robots can't invent, so he has them steal. Prisoners are scanned, battle machines are captured and taken apart, and human designs come back as weapons. Against that, his strength is patience. He treats Hikaru's raid as a chance to capture a pilot and a machine. He plants a bug on Ryo's Uplink so the pilots will lead him to the Golden City. He even accepts losses when they buy time. When it counts he leads from the front. He takes the controls of the Striking Venom himself for the attack on Sentai Fortress, and comes close to breaking through before Takeshi's shot cripples the machine. (LEGO Exo-Force online comics)

The double#

His best move comes at the Golden City. The humans have a shield the robots can't cross and the plans for Meca One himself. So he replaces Keiken with a double. It sends the team away on a false errand and destroys the shield generator from inside, and the real Keiken is already his prisoner. Only a jamming device built at the last moment stops the assault that follows. (LEGO Exo-Force online comics)

The theme ended with him pulling memories from Keiken's mind in search of the jungle outpost where the first robots were built. (LEGO Exo-Force online comics)
