The results explained#
Preston Garvey#
The Survivor finds Preston and his survivors pinned down by raiders in Concord's Museum of Freedom. (Fallout 4) He has no personal quest in the usual sense. His arc runs through rebuilding the Minutemen, from retaking the Castle to their own path to ending the Institute. (Fallout 4)
Piper Wright#
Piper runs Publick Occurrences and lives with her younger sister, Nat. (Fallout 4) Mayor McDonough banned her from Diamond City over an article hinting he was an Institute synth, and her story moment is Story of the Century, an interview with the Survivor about life before the war. (Fallout 4)
Nick Valentine#
Nick was one of the Institute's early prototypes and escaped. (Fallout 4) His quest, Long Time Coming, hunts down Eddie Winter, the pre-war gangster who had the human Nick's fiancée killed and survived the war as a ghoul. (Fallout 4) In Far Harbor he learns he was made alongside another prototype, DiMA. (Fallout 4: Far Harbor)
Paladin Danse#
Danse is first met holding out at the Cambridge Police Station, and he once had to kill his best friend, Cutler, after Cutler was turned into a super mutant. (Fallout 4) In Blind Betrayal, records from the Institute show he's an escaped Generation 3 synth, M7-97, and Arthur Maxson orders his execution. (Fallout 4) The Survivor can carry out the order or talk both men round, which spares Danse but exiles him from the Brotherhood. (Fallout 4)
Deacon#
Deacon spies for the Railroad, the group that smuggles synths out of the Commonwealth. (Fallout 4) He says he ran with a synth-hunting gang as a young man, then married a woman named Barbara, who the gang killed when they found out she was a synth. (Fallout 4) He has no personal quest, and his fate is tied to the Railroad's. (Fallout 4)
John Hancock#
Hancock is the younger brother of Diamond City's mayor, who won office on an anti-ghoul campaign. (Fallout 4) After a bad bender he woke in the Old State House, took the historical John Hancock's coat and hat, and led the uprising against Goodneighbor's old boss, Vic. (Fallout 4) A later quest proves his brother had been replaced by an Institute synth. (Fallout 4)
Robert MacCready#
MacCready left Little Lamplight at 16, as its rules require. (Fallout 3; Fallout 4) In Long Road Ahead he deals with Winlock and Barnes, two Gunners hunting him since he walked out on their contract, then finds a cure for Duncan in the Med-Tek Research building. (Fallout 4) The arc ends with the cure on a caravan home and MacCready free of his debts. (Fallout 4)
Dogmeat#
The Survivor finds Dogmeat at the Red Rocket truck stop near Sanctuary. (Fallout 4) His big moment is in the main quest, when he tracks Kellogg, the mercenary who took Shaun, across the Commonwealth to Fort Hagen. (Fallout 4) He has no personal quest. (Fallout 4)
