By Joe Garratt

Lúnda was a dwarven blacksmith, an old friend of Brok and Sindri, whose skill at the forge was reckoned the equal of the Huldra Brothers. She worked in support of the resistance raised by Freyr in Vanaheim, arming his forces and aiding Kratos through the war that brought down Asgard.

The smith of Freyr's camp#

Lúnda was a dwarf, small of stature like the other smiths Kratos and Atreus met on their journey and of a build much like Brok's. She bore the marks of an old injury, a slashing scar across her left eye that ran to her lip and had left that eye a striking white against the brown of the other. Kratos first met her in Freyr's hidden resistance camp in Vanaheim, where she worked without rest at her forge to outfit his fighters with weapons and armor. Her craft was held to be the equal of the Huldra Brothers, and Kratos came to rely on her work as he passed through the realm, having her forge and upgrade his arms.

In his own account, Kratos named her an old friend of Brok and blacksmith to Freyr's army, the Huldra Brothers' equal in skill and in being too familiar too quickly. He found her comments puzzling and difficult to read, and noted that he often caught her staring, yet judged that for the strength of her armaments he would tolerate her.

Manner and cunning#

Where many were wary of the Spartan, Lúnda was bold and unguarded, open about her feelings to the point of flirting freely with both Kratos and Freya. Beneath the playful manner lay a sharp cunning. On one occasion she tricked Kratos and Freya into searching for the squeaky toy of her companion Helka, calling it an important green orb and offering payment for its return.

For all that, her bond with Brok was real and deep, and it was plain in their warm reunion when Kratos first brought him to the camp, the two sharing a genuine embrace that spoke of long friendship and mutual respect.

After the fall of Asgard#

When the war ended with the defeat of Odin and the destruction of Asgard, Lúnda gave Kratos her thanks for avenging Brok and bringing the tyrant's reign to its close. She was struck with grief by Brok's death, and together with Durlin and Ræb she paid her respects before his funeral, attending it to honor the friend who had meant so much to her. With Sindri departed and Brok gone, she took it upon herself to look after and maintain the forges the Huldra Brothers had left behind.
