What was the Adriatic?

Adriatic was a Defender-class ship that escaped the Fall of the Twelve Colonies with the refugee fleet led by Galactica. It was a decommissioned First Cylon War warship operating in civilian hands by the time of the Fall, and one of the few ships in the convoy still armed with ship-to-ship missiles.

What was the Adriatic's history before the Fall?

The Adriatic served the Colonial Fleet during the First Cylon War before being decommissioned and transferred to an unknown civilian entity, which operated it through the interwar period. During the initial Cylon attack it was ordered to exit the shipping lanes and wait for further orders, then joined the Roslin-led refugee fleet and rendezvoused with Galactica at Ragnar Anchorage.

What role did the Adriatic play in the rebellion in the Fleet?

During the rebellion that divided the Fleet, Adriatic's crew supported President Roslin and jumped to Kobol. As one of the few vessels armed with ship-to-ship missiles, it provided defense for the splinter group and was almost ordered to shoot down Kara Thrace's Heavy Raider.

How was the Adriatic destroyed?

During a food shortage, the Fleet had to travel through a dense star cluster to reach the Algae planet. Adriatic's personnel were transferred to Galactica, and a skeleton crew piloted the ship alongside a Raptor crewed by Lieutenant Brendan Costanza, but the two vessels were separated during the passage and the Adriatic was destroyed roughly two years after the Fall.

What were the Adriatic's specifications?

The Adriatic measured roughly 554 meters long, 201 meters wide, and 119 meters high. It carried point-defense missiles and thick armor plating, was driven by eight sublight engines arranged in four clusters with maneuvering thrusters, and had a faster-than-light drive, with a crew of approximately 415.

  The algae planet was a habitable world orbiting a dying star, briefly settled by the Thirteenth Tribe and later sought by human refugees for its algae before a supernova destroyed it.

• Colonial Fleet

  The Colonial Fleet was the naval arm of the military of the United Colonies of Kobol, founded during the Cylon War to unite the forces of the Twelve Worlds. At its height it numbered some 120 battlestars, yet a single Cylon exploit reduced it to two ships in the opening minutes of the Fall.
