God: the One True God of the Monotheists

God, or the One True God, was a metaphysical entity especially concerned with the evolution of humans and Cylons. Its worshippers, called Monotheists, held it to be the only deity worthy of worship, setting their faith apart from the polytheistic belief in the Lords of Kobol.

By Joe Garratt

God, also called the One True God, was a metaphysical entity said to take a particular interest in the evolution of humans and Cylons. Standing apart from the older belief systems of the Twelve Colonies, its followers were known as Monotheists, a name drawn from their conviction that this God alone was to be worshipped.

Belief and worship#

Worship of the One True God defined the religion of Monotheism, which held that a single God stood above all other claimed deities and was the only one deserving of worship. This placed Monotheist belief in direct contrast with the polytheism practiced across much of the Twelve Colonies, as well as with other Colonial belief systems such as the veneration of the Lords of Kobol, Mithraism, and the worship of the Hephaestons.

Nature#

The One True God was described as a metaphysical entity rather than a figure of any one world, and it was said to take a special interest in the evolution of both humanity and the Cylons. According to its followers, the entity disliked being called either "God" or "the One True God."
