Design#
The Stealthstar's cockpit followed the Colonial Viper Mark VII layout. It was built as a stealth reconnaissance craft, carried the hull number 7746VA, and on DRADIS it was designated "S-Star". (Battlestar Galactica, "Hero")
The Armistice Line reconnaissance#
Lieutenant Daniel "Bulldog" Novacek piloted a Stealthstar across the Armistice Line to determine whether the Cylons were building up their forces for a possible invasion of the Twelve Colonies. Although the craft was stealthy in design, the Battlestar Valkyrie, from which Novacek had deployed, maintained a clear DRADIS lock on it, and the craft flew with its comm channels open throughout. Loss in Cylon space#
An unknown vessel, presumed to be Cylon, jumped in and attacked the Stealthstar. Because it was imperative that the craft not be discovered in Cylon space, Commander William Adama ordered a missile strike against it from Valkyrie. The missile destroyed the craft, but Novacek ejected moments before impact and fell into Cylon hands, the secret that would come back to haunt Adama years later. (Battlestar Galactica, "Hero")
