Aodhan was a Ta-MatoranTa-MatoranThe Fire-element Matoran of Ta-Metru and Ta-Koro, forgers of masks and Kanoka, lava farmers, and the standing core of the Ta-Koro Guard during the war for Mata Nui. native to Ta-Metru in Metru NuiMetru NuiThe city beneath Mata Nui functions as the Great Spirit's brain, housing the Matoran whose labor keeps the god alive.. Little is known of his past in the city before the Great Cataclysm. At some point he was summoned to the Coliseum along with the rest of the Matoran and placed inside a Matoran Sphere. The Toa Metru later saved him and the other Matoran by sacrificing their Toa Power to awaken them on the shores of Mata Nui. As a side effect of his time in the sphere, Aodhan lost his memory of Metru Nui and became shorter and weaker.

On Mata Nui, Aodhan worked as a Lava FarmerLava FarmerTa-Matoran who harvested the Mangai Volcano's lava for tools and soil, sustaining Mata Nui's entire ecosystem.. He endured the infected Rahi attacks and the Bohrok War alongside his fellow Matoran. After the defeat of the Bohrok-Kal, he was summoned to Kini-Nui, where the Turaga rebuilt him into a stronger, larger, and more agile form. Just before the Great Kolhii Tournament he spoke briefly with HahliHahliA Ga-Matoran scholar who rose to become Chronicler of Mata Nui, then Toa Inika, then Toa Mahri of Water during the final crises of the Matoran Universe., and after the tournament, when the Rahkshi destroyed Ta-Koro, Aodhan was among the Matoran who fled.

Following the apparent defeat of Teridax, Aodhan helped construct boats to return to Metru Nui and aided in rebuilding the city until the Staff of Artakha completed the repairs. He was part of the Coliseum ceremony held for Matoro and was present when Teridax revealed that he had seized control of Mata Nui's body. After the Battle of Bara Magna and the death of Teridax at the hands of Mata Nui, Aodhan evacuated the heavily damaged Great Spirit Robot with the other Matoran and migrated to the reformed planet of Spherus MagnaSpherus MagnaA desert world of ancient conflict that became the merger point of the Matoran Universe and Bionicle's true endpoint., where he came to live with the Fire Tribe inside the Great Volcano.

As with all Ta-Matoran, Aodhan possessed inaccessible Elemental Fire powers, which manifested as a natural resistance to heat and fire. He wore a powerless Kanohi Mahiki.
