These weren't thoughtless enlargements. They were deliberate weapons, each armed with a Zamor LauncherZamor LauncherThe Zamor Launcher is a weapon belonging to the Shooting Zamors group, formerly wielded by the Piraka, the Toa Inika, and Toa Jovan. It is no longer in use., each locked into the mask's will. Protodax existed because the Ignika decided they should, and nothing in their nature allowed them to question that decision.

Trillions of times magnification transformed creatures that should have measured in microns into RahiRahiThe Rahi were the biomechanical wildlife of the Matoran Universe, built largely by the Brotherhood of Makuta, ranging from background fauna to engineered war beasts. the size of buildings, each one a living weapon formed from pure mask-will. Legends 5: Inferno, the Protodax emerged as the mask's first active defense. These enlarged guardians attacked with Zamor Launchers, but their assault ended almost as quickly as it began. UmbraUmbraUmbra is a unique being who served as a guardian of the Mask of Life, operating under both the Hand of Artakha and the Order of Mata Nui. Colored dark green, yellow, and silver, he wielded a Laser Lance and Rhotuka spinner and wore a powerless Ruru. He possessed the power of Light and resided on Spherus Magna., the mask's oldest guardian, appeared and drove the Protodax away from the conflict. The Protodax never got a chance to prove themselves against the Toa. UmbraUmbraUmbra is a unique being who served as a guardian of the Mask of Life, operating under both the Hand of Artakha and the Order of Mata Nui. Colored dark green, yellow, and silver, he wielded a Laser Lance and Rhotuka spinner and wore a powerless Ruru. He possessed the power of Light and resided on Spherus Magna.'s intervention prevented any real engagement, leaving the exact limits of Protodax power untested.
