The Saw Shield combines two jobs into one tool. It blocks attacks like any shield, but its jagged, saw-like edge delivers cuts in close combat. Ekimu wields it as his primary weapon. The design isn't accidental. It defines how Ekimu fights.
Functionality and Combat Role#
The Saw Shield operates as both barrier and blade. In combat, Ekimu uses it to parry and block incoming attacks while simultaneously deploying the saw edge for cuts and slashing strikes at close range. It demands a different fighting style than a traditional shield would, one that emphasizes aggressive defense rather than passive blocking.
Wielder and Narrative Significance#
Ekimu is the known wielder of the Saw Shield. As the Mask Maker of OkotoOkotoOkoto is a world whose known inhabitants include the Toa, the Mask makers, and the Protectors., his role as builder and protector makes the weapon fitting. The saw is a tool of craft as much as combat, tying his armament to his identity as a creator who can build and defend in equal measure.
