Okoto
Okoto is a world whose known inhabitants include the Toa, the Mask makers, and the Protectors.

Okoto is an island whose elements gave rise to its guardians and whose legends foretold the coming of the ToaToa (2001)Biomechanical heroes bonded to elemental powers and masks. Not born, but chosen and transformed.. When the island was first created, its Elemental Creatures were formed from Okoto's Elements to protect the golden masks of unity and to aid the Toa on their quest. The island was divided into regions, among them the Region of Stone and the Region of Jungle, each home to villages of Okotans.
The island was once home to the brothers EkimuEkimu the Mask MakerEkimu was the legendary Mask Maker of Okoto, brother of Makuta, and bearer of the Mask of Creation who struck down his brother's tyranny at the cost of his own consciousness. and MakutaMakutaA glossary entry distinguishing the three referents of the word Makuta: the species, the individual Teridax, and the title held by every Brotherhood member., the legendary Mask Makers, who lived in the City of the Mask Makers. This city, also known as the Ancient City, lay in the heart of Okoto and once served as the island's capital. The Capital City stood in the Region of Stone and was known for a museum that, at the time of the Battle of the Mask Makers, hosted an exhibition of ancient Masks of Power.
That battle reshaped the island. When Makuta donned his Mask of Ultimate Power, Ekimu used his Hammer of Power to knock the mask from his brother's face, drawing the Capital City into the Shadow Realm and leaving behind a vast crater on which the Black Volcano later stood. Ekimu was left in a coma, and the Mask of Creation, the Mask of Control, the Golden Masks of the Toa, and the fragments of the Forbidden Mask were scattered across Okoto.
The island was watched over by the ProtectorsProtectorsThe six elders of Okoto's villages, each wielding elemental powers and guarding their regions before the Toa arrived., guardians of its regions who carried their titles down through their descendants and who fought to obtain Elemental Crystals to power the Golden Masks the Toa would later wear. Okoto was also troubled by the Skull Raiders, a band of pirates who plagued the island before being stopped by the Mask Makers and Protectors. After the Toa arrived on Okoto, Ekimu guided them in gathering their Golden Masks and uniting them against the threats that had fallen upon the island.
