Telluris was one of the few members of the Iron Tribe who didn't lose his mind to the Dreaming Plague. That immunity came with a price. As his tribe crumbled around him, succumbing one by one to madness and death, Telluris found himself trapped in a world where his own people had become strangers and every other tribe on Spherus MagnaSpherus MagnaA desert world of ancient conflict that became the merger point of the Matoran Universe and Bionicle's true endpoint. wanted him dead. When the Dreaming Plague struck, Telluris and a handful of others discovered they were immune. As SahmadSahmadA slaver, a survivor, and the only living memory of a people the Dreaming Plague erased before the Core War. recounts in his tale, "Some of us seemed to be immune: myself, Telluris, a handful of others. Naturally our neighbors were curious about why we were still able to dream." That curiosity turned lethal. SahmadSahmadA slaver, a survivor, and the only living memory of a people the Dreaming Plague erased before the Core War. notes that being an Iron Tribe member "now carried a death sentence. If the plague didn't claim you, your one-time trading partners would."

Telluris responded to this isolation by proposing a desperate gambit. He suggested using minerals to change their armor and helmet colors, hoping the Iron Tribe could pass themselves off as members of some previously unknown tribe and find shelter. When it failed, as it had to, each survivor went their own way into exile.
