Quarters of the 163rd Reaper Unit
The Reaper Barracks were the personal quarters of the elite 163rd Reaper Unit, built beneath the Paleontology Sector of Facility Two on Tau Volantis. The site held a looping hypnosis recording used to brainwash Sovereign Colonies personnel into carrying out orders such as Scenario Five.
The Reaper Barracks were the living quarters of the elite 163rd Reaper Unit, hidden beneath the Paleontology Sector of Facility Two on the frozen world of Tau Volantis. Long after the Sovereign Colonies expedition that built them had died, the barracks remained, infested with Necromorphs and still holding a recording that revealed how the unit's loyalty had been secured.
Location#
The Reaper Barracks were the personal quarters of the elite special forces 163rd Reaper Unit. They were built beneath the Paleontology Sector of Facility Two, one of the Sovereign Colonies Armed Forces installations on the ice world of Tau Volantis. The site sat below the main sector and was reached by an elevator from above.
By the time the barracks were entered again, the area was heavily infested with Necromorphs. Many severed heads could be found near the entrance, the apparent source of the Creepers that crawled there, and Slashers lurked throughout the quarters.
The hypnosis recording#
Near the end of the barracks was a room containing a projector that looped a hypnosis recording without end. The recording had been used to brainwash the Sovereign Colonies personnel stationed on Tau Volantis, conditioning them to mindlessly follow the commands they were given. Among the orders it served to enforce was Scenario Five, the operation carried out to bury the truth of what had been found on the planet. The recording offered a glimpse of how the loyalty and obedience of the Reaper Unit and the wider expedition had been maintained.
