August Bradley
Mayor of Prodromos
August Bradley was a former Alliance officer who led the third wave of settlers in the Andromeda Initiative and became the first mayor of Prodromos, the first successful Initiative outpost in the Heleus Cluster, founded on the world of Eos.
August Bradley was a former Systems Alliance officer who became one of the leading figures of the Andromeda Initiative in the Heleus Cluster. As operational head of the third Eos colonist block, he led the wave of settlers who recolonized the world of Eos and, with the founding of the outpost of Prodromos, was promoted to its first mayor. Prodromos was the first settlement the Initiative successfully established in Andromeda, and Bradley governed it with a plain-spoken faith in his people's ability to make it last.
In the Andromeda Initiative#
Lieutenant August Bradley was the operational head of the third Eos colonist block, later promoted to mayor upon the establishment of Prodromos. A former Alliance military officer, he was content to have some independence from direct oversight as the leader of the first successful settlement of the Andromeda Initiative. He reported only to Foster Addison and was assisted by his majordomo, Bell-Scott. Before joining the Initiative, Bradley had served alongside Dr. Ramirez in the Alliance, keeping in touch with her after his injury and subsequent retirement. He had also served beside N7 operatives and held a firm respect for those who had genuinely earned the right to wear the N7 symbol. He joined the Initiative drawn by the prospect of a frontier, doubting that his pension could afford the frontiers that remained in the Milky Way, and he left behind a niece on Earth from whom he was estranged after the death of his sister.
Mayor of Prodromos#
After the Pathfinder activated a Remnant vault on Eos and made the world viable, Bradley led the third wave of settlers to recolonize the planet, founding an outpost that could be developed along either military or scientific lines. As mayor of Prodromos he had faith in his people's capabilities and was determined to prepare them to overcome whatever challenges arose. He was confident his settlement would not share the fate of the failed earlier sites on Eos, Promise and Resilience; he respected the efforts of his predecessors despite their failure, blamed poor leadership for the earlier misfortunes, and vowed to learn from those mistakes. Bradley took a dim view of bureaucratic stuffiness, preferring to let the supplies his people shipped back speak for themselves, and he welcomed survivors of the earlier evacuations who wished to try again. He carried a guarded grief of his own, and he held that every colonist deserved their own way of dealing with the knowledge that the people they had left behind in the Milky Way were long dead.
Defending the outpost#
As Prodromos grew, Bradley faced threats from beyond the settlement. The discovery of a rival group on Eos and an Architect responsible for seismic disturbances tested his hopes of orderly expansion. Later, he warned the Pathfinder that an armed force was positioning itself to invade Eos; fearing the raids were a provocation meant to start a war, he maintained radio silence and ordered a brown-out of Prodromos while he awaited help. When the enemy was revealed to be the Roekaar, attempting to plant beacons to target the outpost and draw the Initiative into open conflict, Bradley helped expose the plot, and the attackers were driven off. He also lent aid to other operations across the cluster, including leading a squadron of shuttles to disable a hostile vessel during a rescue. Through it all he remained committed to the settlers in his charge, vowing that Prodromos would be ready to defend itself against any who threatened it.
