Milque
Delta Squad Sharpshooter
Milque was a human sniper of the Systems Alliance special forces unit Delta Squad, stationed on the colony of Fehl Prime. Cynical and self-deprecating yet fiercely loyal, he fought through both the Blood Pack assault on the colony and the later Collector attack that followed.
Milque was a human sharpshooter of Delta Squad, a Systems Alliance special forces unit posted to the frontier colony of Fehl Prime. He served alongside James Vega and the rest of the squad, picking off targets at range with his M-92 Mantis sniper rifle. Outwardly cautious and cynical to the point that others sometimes took him for a coward, he nonetheless followed orders without complaint once they were given and was dedicated to watching his teammates' backs, usually in exchange for the promise of free drinks.
The defense of Fehl Prime#
Milque came to Fehl Prime in 2183 as part of Delta Squad, where he served as the unit's sniper. A snarker with a dry sense of humor, he traded barbs with his teammates Essex, Kamille, and the others until their commanding officer, Captain Toni, called them to order with a mission briefing. The colony was under attack by Blood Pack mercenaries, and the squad was deployed to stop them.
When the squad's drop shuttle was shot down on its strafing run, Lieutenant Vega took command after Captain Toni was incapacitated. As Vega planned a counterattack, he asked Milque for his power cells, leaving the sniper without shields. Milque was hesitant but complied once he understood the plan, taking a position behind a rock outcropping to cover Vega's charge against the krogan Battlemaster Archuk. Firing with alarming accuracy, he drew the attention of an enemy named Brood, who returned fire and grazed him across the collarbone. Wounded and briefly incapacitated, Milque recovered in time to blow Archuk's head off and save Vega's life. When the Blood Pack was defeated he was commended for his actions, and he conceded that he was happy to have been wrong for doubting the Lieutenant.
The Collector attack#
Two years later Fehl Prime had recovered, and the Alliance had bolstered its defenses with a heavy anti-ship cannon and military grade kinetic barriers. Bored by the long lull, Milque grumbled about the lack of guidance from the Alliance regarding the wave of colony disappearances, reasoning that the squad would have to read between the lines to understand why the big gun had been installed. When Captain Toni ordered the squad to investigate a jamming signal at the colony's edge, Milque dug in on a nearby hill and discovered, through his scope, that the alien device they found could not have fallen from the sky, as the crater around it was too small for a re-entry impact. His warning later saved the team's analyst, Treeya, from falling into an abyss.
The colony then came under attack by an unknown insectoid force that arrived aboard a vast ship. From cover Milque scoped the invaders and concluded they were hostile, noting their weapons and that their vessel shared the technology of the buried artifact. As the squad learned that the aliens were harvesting colonists, Vega devised a plan to disable the enemy ship using the colony's defense cannons, with Milque providing sniper backup. The cannon failed to pierce the ship's kinetic barriers, and the Collectors, as they proved to be, destroyed it. Caught off guard by a trooper, Milque was saved by his teammate Mason, and the pair fought their way down into the colony's underground labs.
Escape from the colony#
Inside the labs the team worked to revive Essex while learning that the attackers were Collectors, the force responsible for the vanishing human colonies of the Terminus Systems. The fighting drew out the krogan Brood, who had secretly been held as a test subject rather than shipped offworld, and who offered the squad passage offworld aboard his ship in exchange for his freedom. When a Praetorian broke into the labs and killed Mason, Milque helped lay down covering fire as the survivors retreated, taking Brood with them. The creature pursued them as they fled aboard Brood's ship, and Milque emptied his Mantis at it until a revived Essex arrived to paralyze it long enough for Vega to finish it. With the ship barely spaceworthy, Milque pressed for a destination as the team weighed its next move.
