Scion: Fused Husk Artillery
Three Husks Grafted Around a Biotic Weapon
Scions were a heavy variant of Husk built from three human Husks fused together and grafted around a single mass effect weapon. Slow and heavily armored, they hung back from the front line and rained ranged fire and shockwaves on their targets while lesser Husks rushed ahead.
Scions were a heavy variant of Husk, the twisted remains of organic beings transformed by Reaper technology. Each Scion was assembled from three human Husks fused together and grafted around a single mass effect weapon, producing a hulking, slow-moving creature that served as artillery for the forces it accompanied.
Composition#
A Scion was created by fusing three human Husks into a single body and grafting them around one mass effect weapon mounted on the left arm. Prominent blue sacks on the creature's back contained redundant organs as well as element zero sources, and these provided the power that drove its weapon and its biotic discharges. The result was a creature far bulkier and less agile than a standard Husk, built for sustained firepower rather than the frenzied rush of its lighter kin.
Capabilities#
Scions were armed with a powerful shoulder- or arm-mounted cannon that fired an advanced, long-range shockwave. This attack traveled great distances, penetrated most cover, stunned the targets it struck, and dealt heavy damage, leaving behind a lingering residue that interfered with the recovery of an enemy's shields. At very close range a Scion could instead unleash a devastating burst over a small area, an attack that grew more damaging the nearer it was to its target and that also stunned those caught in it.
Defensively, the Scion relied on heavy armor in place of shields or biotic barriers, of which it had none. It was immune to most disabling effects produced by enemy powers, with Stasis a notable exception that could lock it in place. Slow but relentless, it advanced steadily on its targets, trading mobility for durability and firepower.
Role in combat#
In battle Scions operated alone or in pairs, holding back as ordinary Husks and Abominations rushed ahead. Less mobile than other Husk variants, they served as ranged fire support, lumbering behind the wave of attackers while loosing their shockwaves and biotic bursts. They appeared among the Collector forces that struck human colonies such as Horizon, and they later returned alongside other Reaper creatures, fighting beside heavier horrors like the Praetorian. Their combination of long reach, stunning attacks, and resilience made them a deliberate anchor in any force they joined, forcing enemies to keep moving or be ground down from a distance.

Husk
Husks were synthetic-organic creatures made from the bodies of organic beings, their flesh converted into cybernetic material by Reaper technology. Mindless and aggressive, they served the Reapers and their agents as shock troops and as a weapon of terror against the living.
Praetorian
The Praetorian was a slow-moving aerial construct fielded by the Collectors, built from dozens of deformed human husks fused into a single armored body. It was armed with twin particle beams and shielded by a regenerating biotic barrier, and it served as one of the deadliest guardians of the Collectors' operations.
Reaper
The Reapers were an ancient race of synthetic-organic starships that hibernated in dark space and returned once every fifty thousand years to harvest the galaxy's advanced life. They built the Citadel and the mass relay network to guide civilization down a predictable path, then reaped it to preserve organic life from synthetic destruction.
Collectors
The Collectors were an enigmatic insectoid race dwelling beyond the Omega 4 Relay, long dismissed as myth. In truth they were the last of the Protheans, genetically rewritten and cybernetically enslaved by the Reapers, who used them to abduct human colonies and build a Human-Reaper.
Element zero
Element zero, nicknamed eezo, was a rare material that released dark energy when subjected to an electrical current, letting it raise or lower the mass of everything in the resulting field. It underpinned faster-than-light travel, artificial gravity, and the biotic abilities of living beings.
Horizon
Horizon was a temperate human colony on the galactic frontier that suffered a devastating Collector raid in 2185 and later became the site of the secret Cerberus husk facility known as Sanctuary.
