The Argus stone was an incredibly powerful xel'naga artifact found in the ruins of Taledon on the world of Aridas. Protoss, Terran Dominion, and zerg forces all arrived at Aridas hoping to obtain the stone and turn it to their own purposes. Judicator Kizrath claimed that the xel'naga regarded it above all other artifacts for its power, and the zerg specifically believed it had helped the xel'naga to create entire races. In appearance the stone closely resembled a khaydarin crystal.

Nature#

The Argus stone was a xel'naga artifact of great power recovered from the ruins of Taledon on the world of Aridas. Judicator Kizrath claimed that the xel'naga had regarded it above all their other artifacts for its power, while the zerg believed it had helped the xel'naga create entire races. The stone closely resembled a khaydarin crystal in appearance.

History#

Kizrath's forces located the ruins of Taledon, but the Aridian terrans had also converged on the site. Kizrath defeated the Aridians and destroyed the old temple sheltering the stone, retrieving it for the protoss. The protoss government, however, considered the stone's strategic value to be low and recalled Kizrath's escort, leaving the Judicator and the stone stranded on Aridas with orders to keep fighting the zerg.

The protoss took the stone to the far side of Aridas and protected it with many troops, using a temple warped from Aiur to focus its energies. Dominion forces led by scientist Jenson Archimedes then defeated the protoss, destroyed the temple, and stole the stone away. The zerg in turn discovered the Terran Dominion science facility hiding the stone and attacked it, and with the aid of the powerful defiler Thakras they obtained it. The zerg immediately brought the Argus stone back to Char, fending off protoss and terran attacks as they did so, and there put its power to their own use.
