Amon's Forces, also called the Forces of Amon, were a union of terran, protoss, zerg, hybrid and Void creatures subservient to the fallen xel'naga Amon during the End War. Bound to his will, they desired the eradication of all the xel'naga's creation and sought to put an end to the Infinite Cycle, the recurring process by which new xel'naga were meant to be born through chosen races.

Origins#

The roots of Amon's Forces reached back to the creation of the protoss and zerg, both of which were made to form an army of false xel'naga, or hybrid, that Amon could use to end the Infinite Cycle. The protoss rebelled against their would-be masters, distrusting them and attacking their worldships as they departed Aiur. The most loyal stewards of the xel'naga were taken by Amon away from the conflict, and from them came the Tal'darim, whom he transplanted across the Koprulu sector in the hope of using their continued loyalty for his own ends.

Amon and the xel'naga loyal to him were defeated at Zerus by the xel'naga who upheld the Infinite Cycle, and he was banished to the Void. His servant Narud survived and set out to carry on his master's plans, aiming to have the protoss assimilated by the zerg to create the hybrid and to use the energies of an ancient xel'naga Keystone to draw Amon back from the Void.

Beginning of the End#

Narud used the drive of the zerg Overmind to push the zerg and protoss into conflict, with the nearby terrans caught in the crossfire. After the Overmind was killed by Tassadar and the United Earth Directorate was dealt with, Narud used the ruins of the conflict to begin breeding protoss/zerg hybrid. When Sarah Kerrigan seized control of the Swarm for herself and turned it from Amon's purpose, Narud simply switched tactics, manufacturing hybrid from zerg and protoss material through terran technology instead. His work was discovered by Dark Prelate Zeratul, who destroyed an early hybrid facility on a dark moon.

Working through the Moebius Foundation and the resources of the Terran Dominion, and with the unwitting blessing of Emperor Arcturus Mengsk, Narud bred the hybrid in secret. During the Second Great War he contacted Raynor's Raiders to recover the Keystone, intending to drain Kerrigan's psionic energy to gather power enough to release Amon. After betraying Valerian Mengsk and Raynor at Prometheus Station, Narud took the Keystone to the Temple of Erris on Atrias and released Amon into the material universe, before delivering the device to Arcturus Mengsk at the Korhal Palace. Narud himself was later banished to the Void when a resurgent Kerrigan raided his hybrid operations at Skygeirr Station.

Amon unleashed#

With Amon returned, his coalition took shape. He moved on Ulnar and slew the slumbering xel'naga there. The hybrid asserted control over the Moebius Foundation's security forces, who became the Moebius Corps, while Amon brought feral zerg under his sway to form an Amon Brood and called the Tal'darim under Highlord Ma'lash to arms. When the Daelaam launched the Golden Armada to reclaim Aiur, Amon revealed that the zerg infesting the world were his own, and then inhabited the Khala itself, seizing every protoss bound to it and corrupting the Golden Armada to his will. Zeratul and the Nerazim freed what protoss they could, and Zeratul severed Hierarch Artanis's nerve cords before being struck down by the possessed Artanis, who escaped Aiur aboard the arkship Spear of Adun.

The End War#

Amon set his combined host, drawing on the Amon Brood, the Tal'darim, the Moebius Corps and the corrupted Golden Armada, against the surviving xel'naga's creation across the sector. His brood swarmed through the warp passage linking Aiur to Shakuras to overwhelm the Nerazim homeworld, but Artanis and the Spear of Adun aided in the evacuation of Talematros, and Matriarch Vorazun ordered the Shakuras temple overloaded, destroying the world and all of Amon's forces on its surface.

Amon then sent the Moebius Corps to besiege Korhal, where they stole the Keystone from the palace before the Daelaam and Dominion drove them off and retrieved it. The First Ascendant Alarak, having turned against Ma'lash, ultimately led the Tal'darim away from Amon's service. Drawn into a trap at Ulnar, Kerrigan and Artanis fought through hybrid, Moebius Corps and Tal'darim forces into the heart of the temple, where they found the xel'naga already slain and learned of Amon's role in uplifting their races. With his strongholds broken and his servants turned or destroyed, Amon's coalition was reduced before the final confrontation with the fallen xel'naga himself.
