Moebius Corps was the military arm of the Moebius Foundation. After the death of Emil Narud and the rise of Amon, its soldiers were enslaved by the hybrid and turned into mindless thralls who waged a crusade to destroy all life in the sector.
Moebius Corps was a military unit that answered to the Moebius Foundation. After the death of Emil Narud and the rise of Amon, the Corps was reduced to an army of mindless thralls serving Amon and his hybrid, set loose on a crusade to destroy all life in the Koprulu sector.
Security force of the Moebius Foundation#
Moebius Corps began as a military organization in the service of the Moebius Foundation. It provided security for the Foundation's bases and ran artifact-retrieval missions on hostile worlds, work that often put it at odds with criminal organizations. Non-lethal measures were used when local populations were not employing deadly force, and retrieval operations were generally conducted on a need-to-know basis. Some Moebius Corps squadrons were former Terran Dominion military forces reassigned to the Foundation through backdoor deals between the two organizations.
Enslavement by the hybrid#
As the protoss-zerg hybrid began to awaken and heed Amon's call, they enslaved the minds of the terrans who had created them. One such group, Brute Squad, was assigned to guard a xenobiology facility named Sector Six at Revanscar that was breeding hybrid; all aboard either died or were enslaved.
Dark Prelate Zeratul first encountered Moebius Corps on a former Moebius Foundation space platform where they were experimenting on protoss templar. These protoss had been delivered by the Tal'darim and were being used to create hybrid. Zeratul moved to rescue them while Sarah Kerrigan and her Swarm destroyed the platform's power generator. Zeratul observed that the terrans' minds were completely broken, leaving them nothing more than mindless servants of the hybrid. The protoss were saved and the facility destroyed.
Crusade against the sector#
When Amon began the End War, Moebius Corps attacked Dominion worlds indiscriminately and left few survivors. A large force laid siege to Korhal, where Commander Jim Raynor coordinated a defense. The Corps disabled the atmospheric stabilizers on the space platform Sky Shield and tried to send it plummeting into Augustgrad, but the intervention of Hierarch Artanis and the Daelaam allowed repair crews to stabilize the platform.
The Corps then moved to secure the Keystone, a powerful xel'naga artifact, at Bennet Port. Raynor and Emperor Valerian Mengsk engaged Moebius Corps alongside Artanis to retrieve it. The hybrid channeled Void energy into the keystone, periodically stunning all terran forces while leaving the protoss and hybrid unscathed, but the combined Dominion and protoss forces broke through and claimed the artifact. By the time the Corps was beaten back, it had caused more damage to Korhal than even the zerg had a year earlier.
Following Amon's command, Moebius Corps went to Ulnar with the Tal'darim to prevent the Daelaam from opening the temple there. Artanis broke through their ranks and entered the temple, with Moebius Corps and the Tal'darim in pursuit. Artanis and Sarah Kerrigan fought through to the center, only to find the xel'naga dead and to realize that Amon had trapped them as he opened a portal to the Void. The Corps tried to finish off the pair, but the betrayal of First Ascendant Alarak allowed the Daelaam to save them and destroy the void crystals powering Amon's portal.
The Corps continued its experimental research throughout the war, blending xel'naga and terran creations into weapons and structures that far surpassed Dominion technology. Even under the thrall of the hybrid, its members remained capable of higher functions and tactics, researching new technologies and salvaging weapons and data when defeat loomed.
Downfall at Revanscar#
Moebius Corps went on producing hybrid for Amon's forces as his armies laid waste to the sector. Matriarch Vorazun sent scouts to track the Corps' primary hybrid-production facility, which was found hidden in the Revanscar asteroid field. Because the Spear of Adun could not move through the asteroid field, Phase-smith Karax proposed sending carriers in to destroy the facility's power generators.
As the Spear of Adun moved into the system, Moebius Corps battlecruisers trapped and boarded it. Karax was tasked with destroying the facility's power cores while the rest of the Daelaam defended the ship. He succeeded, and the Revanscar facility was destroyed, ending Moebius Corps and its hybrid program. In the aftermath, Artanis lamented that no way had been found to save the enslaved terrans, while Alarak maintained the hybrid leave nothing left to save.
