Dr. Amarak was a Colonial government scientist who worked for the United Colonies of Kobol's Colonial Ministry of Defense, conducting defense research alongside Dr. Gaius Baltar. In the days after the Fall of the Twelve Colonies he sought to warn President Laura Roslin of a traitor in the fleet before dying aboard the Olympic Carrier.
Biography#
Dr. Amarak was traveling aboard the Olympic Carrier at the time of the Fall of the Twelve Colonies. The ship rendezvoused with President Roslin's civilian fleet and later departed the Cyrannus Star System altogether after meeting up with the Battlestar Galactica.
Five days after the attacks, Amarak made an urgent call to Colonial One and, through the President's secretary Billy, was scheduled for a meeting with Roslin. Based on the schedule transcripts, he had uncovered important information about how the Cylons had been able to hack into Baltar's CNP, and he had grown suspicious of Baltar before the attack.
Death#
After two hundred and seventy seven jumps, taking place every thirty three minutes, the Olympic Carrier's FTL drive failed. Everyone aboard was either killed by a Cylon boarding party or taken to the hold, and the ship was piloted back into the fleet laden with nuclear explosives before being destroyed. Whether Amarak actually survived the destruction of the Colonies, or whether his name was merely being used by the Cylons for their own gain, was never made clear.
