Pyxis was a Gemenon Liner 1701-type civilian cruiser that escaped the Fall of the Twelve Colonies in the fleet led by Galactica. It was destroyed in a Cylon ambush in the Ionian Nebula when a Raider crashed into its sublight drive.
Pyxis was a Gemenon Liner 1701-type passenger liner which escaped the Fall of the Twelve Colonies in the refugee fleet led by the Battlestar Galactica. It was one of the civilian ships that survived the destruction of the colonies only to be lost later in the journey. Pyxis shared its 1701-type design with the liner Chrion. Service in the Fleet#
During the Cylon attack on the Twelve Colonies, Pyxis was in orbit of Canceron. It later joined the other surviving ships near Caprica and became part of the refugee fleet led by Galactica. The ship's name first appears on the voting tally board during the presidential election between Roslin and Baltar, and it was one of the many ships escorted by Raptors through a dense star cluster on the way to the algae planet. Destruction#
Pyxis was lost in the Battle of the Ionian Nebula. A Cylon Raider, damaged by Viper fire, spiralled out of control and struck the ship near its engines. The resulting explosion destroyed Pyxis with around 600 people aboard. (Battlestar Galactica, "He That Believeth in Me")
Design#
Pyxis was an orange liner with a single row of windows along its hull. Its interior, seen in The Plan, had orange walls and seating almost identical to that of Colonial One, and like every ship that kept up with the fleet it carried an FTL drive. (Battlestar Galactica: The Plan)
